Surrey Minor Ball Hockey Association Announces Vision for New Multi-Sport Facility for Cloverdale Athletic Park

SURREY, May 2, 2019 - Surrey’s Outdoor Sports Advisory Committee last night voted unanimously to support the vision for a new covered multi-sport training facility for Cloverdale Athletic Park. Surrey Minor Ball Hockey Association is one of four local sport organizations partnering in this facility which will provide a ball hockey training facility year-round in Surrey.

The planned project is a cost-effective infrastructure improvement project that will include major upgrades to cover the current outdoor lacrosse box, with potential to include a covered basketball facility at the southwest corner of Cloverdale Athletic Park to create a multi-sport training facility. These upgrades will provide SMBHA players with the opportunity for year-round ball hockey training and development programs and further our goal of keeping kids in sport.

This project is a collaborative effort between Surrey Minor Ball Hockey Association, Surrey United SC, India Field Hockey Club and Surrey Lacrosse Association. It has been endorsed by the City of Surrey’s Outdoor Sports Advisory Committee. Surrey has a thriving, growing sports community and SMBHA is proud to work with these partners to develop options for our athletes to participate in multi-sport activities while also growing the sport of ball hockey for youth. Improving our community’s sports facilities will translate into higher participation and help to keep kids in sport into their teenage years.

Please watch for future updates as secure approvals to move forward with this exciting vision.
